I live on the outskirts of Appalachia, on the Cumberland plateau. As a child, I would hear my name being called at random times, but not just when I was in the woods. It happened anywhere, really. Even at school, I would swear that someone had said my name, but no one did.

North Alabama born and raised, I have definitely had some strange experiences in the woods. I have heard things that sounded like giant angry birds howling at me from the tree line. Seen colored orbs in the sky, I have had things that I have shot at and they disappeared like it was never there. If I was to go into everything unexplainable thing that has happened in the woods it would take over an hour to type. The point is that if you're from Appalachia chances are you have seen some weird stuff and avoiding it becomes a natural instinct. Just like the lady said, IF all of a sudden everything gets really quiet it is time to vacate the area, Definitely the most unsettling feeling of all the weird experiences I have had is when I realized that all the sound stopped, Every sound you make seems amplified 20x. Whether it is something explainable or not, It is never a good sign when the forest goes quiet.

I was raised deep in the hills of SEastern Kentucky. Growing up, we NEVER locked our doors or closed the curtains at night. Now the whole 'don't answer' bit, absolutely. But the late 80s to early 90s my area was like Mayberry and I can't remember us ever locking up at night.... Although I wouldn't dream of it now!

I've lived in the Appalachian mountains all my life, I'm 63 year's old. And i have coon hunted at night by myself with only my hunting hounds, i know of three things in these mountains that can hurt or kill ya, black bear, copperheads, rattlesnakes that's about it except for the most dangerous STUPIDITY

This Would Happen on my Farm in Mexico.l Would Hear Some one Call my Name Every Day around 4 ..Got Tiring and Stressfull as my Young Daughter's Where Some time's Running about and i'd Call Them inside. There Was a Large Body of Water Bordering The Property ..the lady who lived there befor us Said it was spirit"s Trying to lure us To The Water. They Sometime's Copied my kid's Voices When l Was inside The Barn at Night Wanting me to Open The Door. But it Sounded Choppy, Robotic. Couldn'tvEven Finish the sentence.. l Waited a While tending to my animal's ,unafraid knowing my kids would never be outside alone as theres Big Cat's roaming. They don't seem to stick around long l Exited after half an hour and Didn't See any Thing.

The Bible says that in the last days there will be a famine for the word of God, people will travel to and fro searching for the word but will not find it. Very small changes have been happening supernaturally for years, it’s just now becoming more obvious to a small group of people. Most pastors won’t even acknowledge this is happening. The goal is to slowly change scripture until the entire book has a different meaning all together, this new book will be in line with the new one world religion and one world government. The guilt is setting in for me now because I’ve taken Gods word for granted, thinking it would always be there and I should have far more scripture hidden in my heart than I do now, but it is not too late. I will. E studying and cross checking and also taking notes. I’m not sure if personal notes are changing as well but for now at least, I doubt it.

I live in a "safe" city in the Appalachian Mountains away from the actual woods and I'm not particularly fond of going out after dark here. And I've never been one to shy away from graveyards at midnight. The whole area can be very wild and unearthly at times.

I remember one time (16-17) me and my old buddy were hanging out. And we went too the woods cause we knew this homeless man named hobo wayne. Although he was dead at the time he left behind a cool park if you will. Anyways its about 2 am and we drive up to the woods, park right on the outskirts by some buildings. I remember walking up to the tree line, looking out at a pond thinking this isn’t it! for some reason I didn’t tell my friend of my discomfort and marched forward anyway. We finally made it to the trail entrance right at the tree line and it was SILENT nog even a squirrel climbing up a tree it felt like and i didnt know then that it was a sign to go but after reading these comments i do now anyway we started walking the trail to get to hobo waynes structure so stupid now that i think of it but just before we got to the first curve of the trail we heard a what sounded like a grown woman scream to our right about 10-20 ft away and we high tailed out of there all the way to the car gives me the creeps thinking about it I wonder what it was

We appalachians are a very spiritual community. We have a deep connection to heaven and earth and bc of that unshakable faith, have inherited power from the Divine and from the hills and hollers mountains and meadows. That comes from the predominantly Scottish Irish English and Germanic people that settled here. Appalachia is one of the oldest communities from the original colonization. We are hearty, strong, smart (yes the dumb hilljacks are actually smart af) we have a deep love of family and community and a reverence for matriarchy. We get a.shit rep. But it's okay. We ain't going nowhere and there's a revival coming around that's going to have all of these neo hippies scrambling for the hollers of West Virginia. When it comes I will sit back and say......welcome sisters we've been waiting for you.
